Holistic and Complementary Healthcare
To promote well-being, we provide a holistic approach to healthcare that combines the work of both clinical and complementary practitioners. “Holistic” refers to the treatment of the whole person rather than just a part. This means that the underlying cause is treated rather than merely the symptoms
What is meant by the term complementary healthcare?
Complementary therapies complement the bodys natural ability to heal and cure itself aiding natural rhythms using a holistic approach – curing the “whole” rather than just a part of the body or symptom. Every single individual is susceptible to different ailments and each individual responds differently to treatment. No two people in the world are quite the same and therefore complementary healthcare is aimed specifically at the needs of the individual. Different treatments also “complement” one another in healing.
How Complementary therapies can help you?
Complementary therapies are a great way to help you lead a healthy and fulfilling life. Whether you take part in a Tai Chi class, enjoy a regular massage or aromatherapy treatment, you'll find much to help you unwind and relax here at the clinic

What are Ayurvedic treatments?
Ayurveda is the science of health and healing. This ancient philosophy of life and living is practised today by at least one fifth of the human race and its object is to counteract the imbalance of the three essential forces: Wata, Pita and Kapha. These forces constitute the Thridosha, from which the human body originates. The Thridosha regulates the normal working of the body.
If you sample ayurvedic treatments at a recognised ayurvedic resort in either Sri Lanka or India, you will be examined by a qualified doctor who will then prescribe a daily course of treatments that include herbal medicines, a carefully controlled diet, acupuncture, massage using herbal oils, steam and herbal baths. Doctors carefully monitor the treatments throughout.
Complementary treatments draw upon these practises but treatments are normally sought by a patient as a one-off treatment rather than combining it with a course of prescribed treatments.
We have experienced at first hand the wonderful healing effects of ayurvedic treatments and hope to establish ayurvedic treatments here at Andrew House in the near future.
